Staff member note:

I saw this on another site, had a good laugh and thought I would share it with members here.
It really sums up the situation that the hobby went thru over the last few days.
Thankfully the staff here kept the members updated.
All should thank the scrolling banner that kept the whole site updated, as things progressed. --Grynner

Greetings to all members,

Now that the fixes are out, just like Blacklist stated they would be, it’s time for some very overdue words.

I’m sure the vast majority of members are thankful for all the hard work that went into this forum, and the continual work required in keeping things up-to-date. We truly appreciate these members loyalty.

However, what was most disheartening, for both the members and management, was the gross impatience, rudeness, and down right nastiness as exhibited by some members. We were somewhat shocked by the rhetoric. It almost seems some individuals are so selfish that they do not appreciate what we try to accomplish here. They feel that a fix is “owed” to them – immediately and nothing else matters.

Many of them failed to read the post/sticky by Blacklist [himself], spelling out the situation, and what he planned to do about it, including a time frame. Others, even though they did read the sticky, further criticized him for leaving town (like he actually knew the E-C-M was coming), and even others yet couldn’t understand why he didn’t just dictate a fta bin fix right from 46,000 feet on his return flight! Why didn’t he just uplink a fix to the satellites, after all, he was a lot closer to 110 and 119 than we were!

We were never totally down. The really strange part is we only lost about 15 to 20 percent of our channels. Manually imputing the keys generally did the trick. At least we have this option, thanks to Blacklist.

The hundreds of threads of: When…; How Come…, What If…?, WTF?… etc., could and should have been avoided. A quick trip to the latest announcements would have yielded the situation as told by Blacklist himself.

I know the situation with the server has been trying to say the least, but to spew such bitterness and animosity did not accomplish anything, anything positive that is.

I would hope next time, and we all know there will be a next time, that all of us simply take the time to read the announcement and general information areas of the forum. Repeatedly asking the same question(s), albeit worded a little differently, accomplished nothing. Also a quick visit to the download section will adequately show whether a fix has been released. Any threads asking the “same old” that have either been previously answered in another post or a sticky will be quickly deleted.

A last word about Bashing. This practice never accomplishes any good, and it demonstrates to all, a very childish attitude toward fellow members and moderators. If you are having a particular problem with another member, PM me and I’ll take the appropriate steps. Bashing this Site, Blacklist, a Moderator or a Fellow Member, regardless of the reason, will result in instant and permanent banning. Please let’s not let it get that far. Then again, if you are having a problem, PM me or one of the other moderators for us to handle.

Once again, I would like to thank the vast majority for being such great members, especially during these difficult times. We do read all the threads and deeply appreciate all the kind words expressed by so many.

With Warmest Regards,
