| 301.13 Newbie Guide We have this else where and seeming alot of peeps are starting to test with these and are having problems I thought it wopuld be good here! Thanks to the creator Chupy!

The 301.13 is a great reciver and is easy to work with. However it is easy to get it wrong. I messed up 5 before getting it right, a costly mistake. If you follow the directions you should have very little trouble. You will have to cut a hole in the bottom of the reciever to expose the JTAG.
The 301-13 is not a 301-05 or 301-10 or a 3100 so DO NOT TREAT IT LIKE 1
The 301-13 is to be treated like a 301-13 and nothing else
The 301-13 has 2 different versions and they ARE NOT THE SAME
You have a 301-13 DUAL TSOP ird and you have a 301-13 SINGLE TSOP
You must know for a fact what ird you have ......DO NOT rely on jkeys to tell you what you have
JKEYS will always tell you that you have a DUAL tsop no matter what you have........
The very first thing to do is remove the cover and look with your own eyes and count how many tsops you have
This is the easy part .....1 tsop=SINGLE........2 tsops=DUAL
Ok now you are going to ask how can I tell a single from a dual and what does a tsop look like and were is the tsop
Thats simple .....download the vidmod guide and READ IT.....you will find a great pic of the tsop and what it looks like and were it is
If you have a SINGLE TSOP then you will see 1 tsop and a place were a 2nd could go.
If you have a dual tsop then guess what....you will see 2 tsops.
What jkeys to use..............................
Now for the fun part of trying to explain the JKEYS part of the 301-13
Only a version of jkeys that has the 301-13 def in it will work
NO VERSION OF JKEYS WITH OUT THE 301-13 DEF WILL WORK....................................
Don’t say well I have 299 and that what the guide says to use.........take a little time and make 100% SURE that you really have a version of jkeys that will work.
I see this every day and it is next to impossible to convince people they have the WRONG JKEYS
If you open up jkeys and pull down the drop down box that says 301/3100 and go to the bottom and see SINGLE then you have the correct version of jkeys and you are set for the next step.
If you open up jkeys and pull down the drop down box that says 301/3100 and go to the bottom and DO NOT SEE SINGLE...then you have the WRONG VERSION OF JKEYS and you need a different version of jkeys.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Using jkeys on a 301-13....................
If you have a dual tsop 301-13 then the CORRECT version of jkeys will work like normal on both tsops.
If you have a SINGLE tsop 301-13 then you will notice that jkeys does not show some info about your ird when first hooked up and you are sitting there panicking that something is wrong,
the fix is easy.....pull down that drop down box that says 301-3100 and go to the bottom and select SINGLE.
Now you will see all your info……..DO NOT HIT DETECT after selecting SINGLE or all the info will go away again and you will need to go and select SINGLE again....you can sit there all day long going round and round with that 1.....LOL
Backing up the tsop or tsops
For the DUAL tsop 301-13 go to flash programming and back up both tsops
For the SINGLE tsop 301-13 go to flash programming and back up the single tsop.
While you are at it also back up the eeprom......
ECM REPAIR
Now do not run around in a panic and screw this up....take your time and look at what you are doing.
For the DUAL TSOP 301-13 erase SA15 in flash 2.....check and make sure you only erase SA15 in FLASH 2.
Do not erase it in flash 1 and do not do a full erase........take a few seconds to do it correctly the first time..........
Hook up the jtag , go to flash programming now jkeys is set to FLASH1 at this time so you need to drop the box and select flash 2.
Now go to the top right hand corner and drop the box that says FULL and select SA15.
Now stop right here look at the screen...look at it for a long time.
Are you in flash 2.....does the screen show SA15....if so then erase SA15 in flash2 "4 times".
Now re-stream the ird for 15 to 30 min and the ecm is gone.
For the SINGLE 301-13
NO VIDMOD IS NEEDED TO ECM REPAIR A SINGLE TSOP 301-13.... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!
To fix an ecm on a SINGLE TSOP 301-13 you do not need a vidmod ..................
To fix the ecm on a SINGLE TSOP 301-13 ...hook up the jtag select SINGLE from the drop down box that says 301-3100, go to flash programming and go to the top right hand corner to the drop down box that says FULL and select SA49.
Now that you selected SA49 look at the screen and make sure you have SA49 and not FULL.
You do not want to do a FULL erase of this ird.
Now erase SA49 "4 times" then re-stream the ird for 15 to 30 min and the ecm is gone.
Jtag pads.................
It seems that a lot of people still feel the need to use the wrong pads of the jtag port and get upset that it isn’t working.
The 301-13 is not like the other 301s or 3100 and does not use the same pads so do not expect it to work like that.
The 301-13 uses pads 2-3-4-5-6 and ground from bottom.....that is exactly like a 2700 ird.
If you have no clue as to what pads are or what pads look like or what pad is what then do some reading before going any further.
There are a lot of good picks of pad locations and what they are all over the place so go find them before you mess something up really bad.
Jtag access hole..................................
If you flip your 301-13 up side down and do not have a hole for your jtag then you can jtag from the top or remove the pcb from the case and jtag the ird or remove the pcb from the case and cut a hole so your jtag will fit.
If you opt to cut a hole then again DO SOME READING....the cut out is EXACTLY like the 301/3100 ird so you can download and use the hole cut out guide for that...the SEARCH BUTTON is great for that.....LOL.
Just to let you know that there are 2 different pad locations so there are 2 different hole cut out guides.
Download both guides and use the 1 that matches your ird.
GROUNDING YOUR 301-13..... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!
This it the part that almost no one can get straight.............
If and I say if .....if your ird keeps giving errors or times out or does any of the things that upsets you then GROUNd THE SUCKER....!!!!!!
This part is so easy but everyone keeps asking over and over about it.
So read this part until it comes clear.........
To ground from the bottom of the ird...................................
Solder a wire from PAD1 to GROUND .....any ground....pick a ground and use it
so you will take a wire and solder 1 end to PAD1 of the jtag port on bottom of the ird and solder the other end of that wire to GROUND.
Now you should have a wire going from PAD 1 on bottom to ground
that is how you ground the ird from bottom
To ground from the top of the ird.
This 1 st a tiny bit more tricky then grounding pad 1 from bottom.
If you are jtagging from the top then ground R79.
R79 is just right of the jtag port and under the crystal.
The R79 is empty and you want to apply ground to the side of R79 that is closest to the jtag port, not the furthest side.
So you will take a wire and solder 1 end of this wire to R79.....the side closest to the jtag port and solder the other end of that wire to GROUND.
It cannot get any easier than that and I do not see where all the confusion is coming from.
DO NOT TRY AND GROUND PAD 1 FROM TOP.... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!
PAD 1 ON TOP IS NOT PAD1....do not use it.
To prove this to be true all you need is an ohm meter and know how to use it.....LOL
ohm between pad1 on bottom and R79 the side closest to the jtag port on top.
See what you get... PAD1 on bottom is R79 on top.
Now ohm between PAD1 on bottom and PAD1 on top.....what did you find.....?????????????????
Ah see ....pad 1 on bottom IS NOT pad 1 on top.........so DO NOT USE IT.
Now to get rid of a few vidmod questions......................................... ......................
THE DUAL TSOP 301-13 DOES NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT use a vidmod...........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok so now that we all know that the DUAL TSOP does NOT need a vidmod lets talk about the SINGLE TSOP.
This part is only talking about the SINGLE .................
You do not need a vidmod to read the tsop
You do not need a vidmod to back up the tsop
You do not need a vidmod to fix the ecm
You do not need a vidmod get the boxkeys
You do not need a vidmod to backup the eeprom or to write the eeprom
You do not need a vidmod to update the ird |
