Null Modem Cable for DB500

Not quite sure but is a straight through cable the the same as a null modem cable for loading the DB? reason I am asking is I screwed up when loading a fix for my DB and the entire tv goes completely blurry including the setup menu, therefore not being able to to see on the screen what I am doing.

Gaining access byethernet cable has failed since my screw up and now attempting to use DB 9 pin which is used for the Ariza, which I believe is a straight through. I have tried this cable and the Dreamup program does not see the box. I have checked on 2 different pc's running windows XP and have dropped the firewall just to make sure.

I need to flash this puppy back to factory and start from scratch. Any help would be appreciated. My house hold droids are driving me nuts for a fix.

TIA Poolman
