Channel List Guide
I have been struggling to find a good channel list, all to no avail. Everyone I downloaded has had problems and channels that didn't work. I finally threw in the towel and decided to create one, as was first recommended in the testing guide I might add!
1) Make sure you have the latest bin installed and do a factory set.
2) Make sure all your dish settings are correct.
3) Scan all the installed satellites in ascending order.
4) Use the Coolsat Pro loader to download the list. Start the loader, click on the channel tab, then click on the '"To Computer" button, hit connect and save the file. Make sure no channel list is selected in the browse window because it will be overwritten.
Tip: I highly recommend you backup your list using the Coolsat Proloader even if you chose not to use Channel Master because any "in receiver" editing or changes you made will be lost when you load a new bin and do a database reset
5) Get Channel Master free from:sharpc.com/CM/update.aspx, install, then load the channel list you created.
6) Right click on the "Satellites" in the left hand window and select "Remove Duplicate Channels" then use "by name"
7) Now that you have a cleaned list go through and edit the list. Open a browser window and point it to Lyngsat's site at : lynsat.com/packages/america.html.
Select the first satellite SID list you want to work on.
8) Now select the corresponding satellite in the left pane of Channel Master. Using the Lyngsat site as reference, delete all the channels you don't need. Be patient because there are a ton and the whole point of this excercise is to create a nice short list that has only the channels you watch. Click on the channel in the right pane that you wish to delete or edit. You can select multiple channels with shift or ctrl-click to delete multiple channels at once.
Important! Whatever you do, do not delete Dish channel 100 or BEV channel 212! They are the guide channels and are also used by the Coolsat to assign the yellow and blue EPG quick access buttins.
Tip 1: Channel themes are grouped by channel order which helps speed things along. Ex: All the Spanish channels are on consecutive channels. Click on the first channel then shift-click on the last one to select all the channels in between. Now hit the delete key to erase the selected channels.
Tip 2: The networks (ABC, NBC, etc) are tricky because there are so many local ones. Select one for your local, one in another time zone, and delete the rest. It is work but you will be rewarded with a nice clean list and the ability to watch events in your time zone or another time zone if you miss it.
9) Use those same groupings to create favorites categories. Ex: Put all the kid's channels in a Kid's favorites category. To create a favorites category, simply right click on the "Favorites" Icon in the top of the left pane and select "Add Favorite". Favorites can easily be deleted by selecting the category and hitting the delete key.
Tip: Channel Master will automatically populate unused favorites categories every time a list is re-loaded into it. In order to avoid having those saved with your list and appearing in your receiver as "Favorites 7, Favorites 8, etc", delete them before saving your list.
10) Right click on a channel to add it to a favorites or lock it. Locking is a good idea for adult channels and will require the user to enter the pin to view the channel. Note that you can select properties for more channel options.
Tip 1: Put Dish channel 100 and BEV CTV-T channel 212 (or 1212 when renumbered) in a favorites to accelerate the EPG.
Tip 2: In the Options menu of your Coolsat receiver, turn on "Unlock Lock ch after PIN" to allow all the locked channels to be unlocked with only one PIN entry. This will save you the hassle of individually re-entering the pin for every locked channel. Don't worry, the receiver will reset the locks the next time it is turned on.
11) Save your list and delete any old channel lists on your receiver by accessing the "Database Reset" option and selecting "Delete All Channels" before uploading a new channel list. This will avoid the creation of duplicate channels or other issues. Now use the Coolsat Pro Loader to upload your list.
Warning: Channel lists may contain Dish Setup info that does not correspond to your setup which may result in an apparent loss of reception. Don't panic! Just be sure you know your "Dish Setting" in the "Installation" menu before you upload a new list so you can restore them.
Tip: Right click on the satellite in the left hand Channel Master window and select properties. You can save your Dish Settings there to avoid this problem for future uploads. Fill in the properties as shown but change the values to reflect your own setup.
Happy Viewing!

Well here I thought I was doing such a great job of constructing my own channel listl!!! I love the list I have made but...... I can't get it to work on my Coolsat 4000.
Have saved the list, made it into a template. Cleared the CS via menu and reset database. Auto scanned the birds 110 & 119 downloaded the scanned channels to computer via STB 2.2 loader saved it. Opened it in Channel Master did all deletions etc. imported my template and the channels were listed as I want. Downloaded it back to receiver via STB 2.2. Reconnected to TV and got the EPG guide according to my list but.... NO SIGNAL it said NO or BAD Signal on all channels. and the signal quality was in the red, did a data reset, scanned the birds and all channels came up but not with my list. I have gone through this procedure 4 times and get the same frustrating results. I have been reading and following all directions I can find and still I don't know what I am doing wrong? I sure don't look forward to editing everything scanned again. Help please if you have any ideas I would be most grateful.

Easy to fix. Channel lists contain the dish setting info. Go into Dish Settings on your receiver and fix them. It should haved saved them with the list but making a template may have screwed it up somehow.

Often when I load a new channel list, I too have to go back into the dish setup menu and check/change the LNB frequency and/or Desq switch settings.

Easy to fix. Load the list into channel master and right click on the satellite in the left hand pane. Select properties and a window will come up. Change your settings in there and presto! no more problems with every re-load.
