Need advice from experts - help

Hi,

I currently have dish setup in the following way:

Superdish: 119, 110, 121 connected to DPP44 switch which is connected to 625 DVR. The LNBs are more than 2 years old while DPP44 is brand new. I don't know how to identify what type of LNBs I have.

I need your adivice whether to go with plastic or FTA. I do not want to chang existing switch (can change LNBs). I want to know if I can add another receiver to the DPP44 and can a FTA receiver work on DPP44 ? I am thinking plastic would be ideal method for my conditions.
But, from keeping the receiver running most of the time, which method is easy and reliable ? (I mean withstanding dish net attacks).

FTA and Plastic is like apples and oranges, it is basically what you prefer best..

you can use your switch with an fta receiver but it's said to run it with a sub receiver for better results.. f you were to swap out your dpp plus lnb for dp twin and a dp dual then it would run much better with an fta setup..

check the labels on your lnb's to see what type of lnb they are, yours will have a DP or DPP logo on them.. DP= Dish pro lnb, DPP= Dish pro plus lnb

if your using a DPP44 switch and dish pro plus lnb and wanted to add an fta receiver thern you should use your subbed receiver with output 1 and fta on output 2.. the dish pro plus lnb and switch require a lot of power and is best used with a sub receiver also..

Now you have 129 and there are no fta's available that will get you dish HD, if that's what your after then your better staying with plastic..

The captive works 3000 HD is just making it's way to customers and is an excellent htpc box, it has rumours to decode dn hd channels with an add on usb device (Genpix skywalker), this is not proven yet but will be very soon once customers receive and test their units..

The cw 3000HD is going for $479.00 U.S and Genpix skywalker adapter for about $400-500 U.S...

Viewsat 8000 HD and Sonicview 8000 HD are also rumoured to decode dn hd with an add on usb device, these reeivers are not released yet but should be very soon..

Thanks for help j3z3l. One more question, which receiver (FTA or plastic) is easy to maintain to keep it running ? (I mean to withstand dish net attacks..)

veiwsat or pansat is the best in my opinion

but deffently i would go with fta.

hard to lock or loop a card if it doesnt have one lol

also check out the captive works premium, it's the absolute best bang for the buck right now, Viewsat is top dog though

This is my current setup:
I have a DPP 44 switch connected to three LNBs as follows:

Input #1 of LNB: Connected to LNB which has DP logo on it. P/N # 151019 (this is looking at sat 110)

Input #2 of LNB: Connected to LNB which DOES NOT have DP or DPP logo on it. It says "DBS Stacked LNB" P/N # 122676 (this is looking at sat 119)

Input #4 of LNB: Connected to LNB which DOES NOT have DP or DPP logo on it. It says "FSS Stacked LNB" P/N # 122677 (this is looking at sat 121)


The above LNBs are only two. First one is for sat 110. Second one looks like a twin or similar LNB for 119 & 121.

So, with the above setup, can I got with the FTA route ? If so, can I just connect it to another port of the switch? Any special instructions for me ?Whats the best FTA receiver that you guys recommend for a newbie ?
