Post NPVR Server and How To Doc..

C/p nfusion support team is pleased to ‘release’ v0.5 npvr (nova personal video recorder), you will need to update your bin and load the npvr server program on your pc. In the ‘info’ bar displays ‘connects’ to the server application which will be released with the bin (0.5) record only bin. The data in the info bar is ‘audio and video’ bytes being sent over your ‘local’ network to pc of your choice.

The bin will be placed on the update server (iks download as well)

do understand this is recording only (picture on nova freezes) during in recording in version 0.5 (v1.0 up will record and play)

there is a few terms you need to read up on if you do not know what they are let me list them below.

Gop – group of pictures (this controls how a video is played (the bar moving in a player) .ts file – this is what we call the audio/video that is stored (but in fact is not this) mpg editor – this will be the program you use to join your streams for use on your pc or dvd software mpg encoder – program used to transcode a file to dvd format 720x480 codac – this is used by a program to decode say the video or audio

a good site to visit is digital-digest they have detailed how-to information on video encoding and editing.

Lets keep in mind v0.5 is the streams we will use playing back to your ‘nfusion’ pvr enabled ‘fta’ box. Side effect is you can use these streams to make dvd’s with or anything you want to use them for.

Now once you flash the new bin, then load the npvr server application to your pc in a directory that you want to use for video storage (application) is standalone needs no other programs to run. (picture-1) this is the server program

on the npvr server is ‘start server’ ‘start beacon’ both in just that order then hit ‘small red button on your remote ‘record’ picture will freeze and ‘banner info bar will come down’ it will be displaying ‘what the box is doing’ connecting to npvr server and audio and video stream information. The boxes starting from top to bottom audio/video is bytes written to your ‘local’ pc harddrive. Next is port information/file name stored as all this is automatic. Next is ‘ird beacon’ this is used to find your ird and its ip address on your local ‘network’ on startup its set to ‘255.255.255.255’ beacon broadcast address it then finds your ird and its ip address and auto sets it. This also controls your remote key entries ‘red and white buttons’ npvr server has a ‘debug window on the right side of it this is only temp for now. The small window on the npvr server is what the server is doing the ip address in the window ‘should’ be your local pc’s ip and the audio and video ports in use (make sure firewall is set to accept these ports).

At this point you should see audio and video ‘storing’ to your ‘local’ pc and it will be stored with automatic file names.

Note: your network should be set to ‘obtain’ an ip address automatic (this is dhcp setting) and ‘obtain dns server address automatic’ (this helps the npvr server beacon find your pc) no other value than that.

Now at this point you have the video streams on your ‘local pc’ you will see two file names ‘audio_#.mpa and video_#.mpg this is the live recorded video and audio. You can view the ‘video’ with ‘vlc media player’ (videolan) player you can get this free at (videolan - free software and open source video streaming solution for every os!) or search the internet for ‘vlc’ and follow the link. This application can play the video part as it is, but not the audio part. The audio part will have to be processed with ‘tmpgenc mpg editor’ vlc is picture 2

now i will touch on joining the video and audio you will need tmpenc mpg editor version 1.059 picture 3 this program is freely on the internet or you can buy it from (Willkommen bei Roche in Deutschland) the new version is (2.1.1.152) it is a tad better on handing the audio/video streams. In my case i purchased version (2.1.1.152) which does handle the streams a little better but both work its user choice.

Picture 4 is open editor window and here you add audio under ‘source setting’ then browse and correct file name this is the ‘audio’ stream (click ok then close) the edit window

picture 6/6a is ‘audio filer’ this is where you set the ‘audio sync’ most cases its -1200ms but can vary you can hit play in here to test if audio is in sync once you are happy with edit say ok (then click ‘output’ a new window opens click ‘browse’ and put name you want for your video, then click ‘start output’ a full movie takes only few mins you are done you can view this video in ‘media player’ or any pc dvd player.

Transcoding/encoding is process used to make the mpg into a file you can use on a home dvd player (i will cover this later)

this is the first step into a new ‘world’ for nfusion and our great team that worked on this project to make this happen (we hope you enjoy it) there is many things coming for this box. And yes we know about the other issues there is members working on those as well.

It will take a little reading to understand what you are doing with the video/audio but keep in mind these streams are in the format we need to play back to the box in v1. But you can use the streams to make great dvd’s

side note: this is a user program so please read the sites i covered in this thread it will help those that have never done this before better understand the process. Npvr version 1.0 up will start to build the pc to box interfaces so you can play the ‘streams’ as they are stored on your pc.. Playing with this surely will be a learning experience. There will be no need to invest in those ‘high priced’ pvrs this is on the cutting edge

npvr buttons on remote are (small red button) record (small white button) stop

exit npvr server application (box resumes as normal) files in the release are: this doc, bin, server app npvr server

- pvrserver_111b.exe bin for nfusion - nova_v1.16.00_npvr_v05_2fed07 doc –

npvr.doc any pictures will be in doc file enjoy,
