For a variety of reasons--including "Operator Error", a ViewSat's software data may become corrupted, confused and/or constipated and cause itself to no longer respond in the manner desired by a User and designed by ViewSat. So, what's the solution to this unhappy situation?
"Virgin" Factory Condition
How is this accomplished?
Rather easily, thank goodness! You'll be using the basic PC-->STB file transfer procedure and loading a Factory*.pgm file and a Factory*.sat file. These will over-write the current data in your ViewSat returning it to a "virgin" state similar to the one it was in when you first opened its cardboard box upon arrival.
Then you'll use the basic PC-->STB file transfer procedure a second time for loading a Vxx.pgm file to your ViewSat.
ASSUMPTION
1. You are just going to get your ViewSat operating again using 119 and 110 until it is operating properly. After that, you may continue to add additional satellites. Let's just get you new toy back into good operating condition first.
Files Needed
1. VS2000-v0501-APLU-20051108.pgm (New 11-08-2005)
2. factory.sat
3. teach 11-30-05 110+119 satinfo.sat (in STICKYs)
4. ViewSat v1018.pgm (Any version of 7x series such as 70, 71., 72, 74, 75, 76, 77, 81 or v1BETA3, v1010, v1018)
5. Dec 21 opkey.hex or later (effecitve 12-22-05)
Note: V1018.pgm is recommended (as of 22 DEC 2005) because it has auto-roll and has been stable without freezing for me. You may wish to load the latest opkey.hex file or input the Keys via your Remote Control or you may just wait from 3 to 15 minutes for the Keys to auto-roll by themselves.
* Note where you've put these files in your computer BEFORE you start; make this easier and fast!
HOW TO for Experienced.....
As noted above, you'll be transfering files TO the ViewSat twice:
1. Do a Factory Default via MENU--INSTALLATION--FACTORY DEFAULT first
2. Do a PC-->STB of an FACTORY*.pgm and any FACTORY satinfo.sat files. Can be accomplished in one step.
3. Do a PC-->STB of any version of a Vxx.pgm and Dec 21 (or latest) opkey.hex files.
4. Next, do a MENU--INSTALLATION--ANTENNA SETUP on 119.
Set up your various Antenna settings to match your hardware
Highlight any line except the TOP line
OK to do a "regular" scan of 119
5. MENU--INSTALLATION--ANTENNA SETUP on 110.
Set up your various Antenna settings to match your hardware
Highlight any line except the TOP line
OK to do a "regular" scan of 110.
NOTE: For Versions at/after v1018, you must go into MENU--SYSTEM SETTINGS--SORT BY SID and change it from the default value of "OFF" to "ON"
