Rep Power: 0 | | I'd like to try Vista out, just to see what it's like. I'd never buy it though. Never bought any OS before.
Unfortunately, before I can even try it, I'll need a whole new computer. This 900mhz Duron of mine just won't cut it. |

Rep Power: 100 | | | I would not buy it...it is overpriced for what the product is
The 64 bit version has even less drivers and will not work with most software including there own...the 32 bit is a memory hog...and is a waste on a 64 bit system
And now the are releasing a new OS...does this sound like there windows ME
they will get all things fixed...and dump this product just as they did with ME....if you do not want to experiment with the Vista OS...stay with XP |

Rep Power: 32 | | | my thoughts:
vista equals windows me, heavily policed.
windows 98 se still had drivers released 10 years after the release of xp.
so by the looks of it we can enjoy xp for another 7 years without worrying about driver problems.
we also know that a smaller operating system on the fastest possible computer is ideal.
especially one with more than enough security, not policed and excellent gui like 98 se.
XP PRO
so why make my computer work harder to stop me from doing a lot and what ever i want ?
meanwhile taxing my cpu.lol
its craziness, xp pro is the way to go at least for another 5 years. no question about it. |

Rep Power: 100 | | | I have sueded every version of vista and found that it is no better than use than "ME"..that is garbage
They are coming out with a new version this year ( they say )...that make more sense than Vista..it took 3 years past the time they were going to release it..you have about 1/2 the software makers out there just getting there programs to even works with vista..and they works worst than XP ...they say that the SP3 of vista will be better..but will have to see about that...but for now I have gotten rid if vista off eveything..an use only xp 64
I am waiting for the new version of the OS that is coming out...for a couple of reasonns..one it is Linux fendly..and also can use equipment most ppl have right now
Vista will die like "ME" did...and the new version will be a touch screen and also able to use 3d more and use and has better video....and uses the most of your computer ...and of the programs...so at 500 bucks for a full version of a OS is just plain throwing your money away |

Rep Power: 46 | | | well sence i already bought a laptop (HP dv9500) it comes stock with premium vista home
i took the smart rout and made it tripple boot (vista,xp,linix,) i thought it through and made more sence to make this tripple boot
that way you get best of all platforms
iv messed around with vista and i have to give one thing to it over xp
if lets say you crash vista (missing bcd)
windows will still repair it providing you still have your winlogin.exe
now lets say you blow up all boot files
you can simply copy anyones bcd and boot folders to you messed up vista partition and apon loding it will repair and rebuild its self
now if this happens with xp you can copy all boot files (ntldr,ect.......)
but you have to load xp repair and cmd lines to properly do a repair
IE,
fixdsk
fixboot
repair ntdlr
are just some of things you have to use to rebuild your loader
now with the relaes of the vista repair cd from microsoft for free
now that means even if you messed up vista beond boot this disk will repair it
this is the first time BILL has ever release repair disk for any operating system
over all i could get every sat testing sofware too run flawless and got vista to run at a commited 250mb ram and 1% cpu off a duel core
now let me tell you with vista as a second os its great and will surpass xp
in the next year |

Rep Power: 100 | | | windows xp64 is the way to go if you have a duel 64 CPU...it is real fast..and only use NTFS
the more memory and the sata drives..and making a single drive just for the OS..like a 4 gig drive is just fine...you can add all the rest of the HD's you want up to as high s you want...and you can be a very happy camper with 8 gigs of memory,,and get rid of all the memory hog programs like Norton , Mc affee, and even photo shop..you can get better programs that works better and faster..and do not drain a system..and most are free
till they come out with a better version than XP and dump the Vista..there is nor reason to get or even use Vista..I have changed out over 50 systems that have come with Vista..and gave them XP...and they can not be any happyer...you can get all the eye candy on XP you have on Vista....so get XP or Linux | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
