Too much of a memory hog and my old computer would not do well with it. Xp is working well for me, no reason to change yet.

I install, program, and re-program equipment, and info systems for Big 3 and suppliers.
Many of these are only now upgrading to XP on the floor from NT.
I even have to break out my Win95 and Win98 Notebooks from time to time when retooling much older DOS based equipment.
When ordering new Notebooks I get limited selection because I require the 9-Pin Serial Port due to the fact that I cannot Connect to some equipment with a USB>Serial converter (mostly because some older software has limited Com Port selection).

I will wait until the next generation OS beyond Vista before replacing my XP Desktop at home, but I will stay with XP Pro when I purchase a new Notebook in the near future.

As an alternative to Dual and Triple Boot systems, I use VMWare (Virtual Machine). I simply load an OS into it, configure some Ports, etc, and I'm good to go.
This really comes in handy at Plants where I hook up to the Network. They like to take Administrative control over any connected PC which is not nice for Personal equipment.
I simply load VMWare with the OS they use, and when I go on the Network, they only get Admin within the VMWare OS.

I am sure Vista has some benefits, but I think it's just a way for Billy to sell more software. I use Xp Pro and will continue to do so until Microsoft stops their support. I will switch to a Mac when that happens.

got 3 computers 1 with Vista 1 with XP 1 with Linux, the Vista is slow booting up, and lots of hardware, such as printers, that vista doesnt have drivers, and found several programs we use in satellite testing that will not run on Vista, I personally use the Linux 90% of the time, only use the windows stuff when I cant get it to work on the Linux

BUY is such a strong word. I'll stick with XP until I have to downgrade to vista. Microsoft has a flaw in their activation process so I'll continue to exploit it until they find a way to fix it.
